Erasmus+ Training Course in Romania

Applications are now open for Youth Workers for Media Literacy, an international Erasmus+ Training Course taking place in Târgoviște, Romania, from 14 to 19 September 2026.

Organised by Asociația Be You within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA1 Accreditation, this international mobility will bring together youth workers from Erasmus+ Programme countries to strengthen their competences in media literacy, critical thinking, and countering disinformation through innovative non-formal education methods.

Why Media Literacy Matters

Young people are constantly exposed to an overwhelming amount of online information, social media content, and digital communication. Developing media literacy skills has become essential for helping them distinguish facts from misinformation, recognise manipulation techniques, and make informed decisions.

Youth workers play a crucial role in supporting young people to become responsible digital citizens. This training course has been designed to provide participants with practical tools, educational resources, and innovative methodologies that can be directly applied in their daily youth work.

Objectives

During the training training, participants will:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of media literacy, disinformation, and the influence of social media algorithms.
  • Strengthen their critical thinking and fact-checking skills.
  • Learn to identify bias, stereotypes, and manipulation techniques in media content.
  • Explore gamification and non-formal education methods for teaching media literacy.
  • Design and test educational activities that promote responsible digital engagement among young people.
  • Prepare follow-up initiatives to implement within their local communities after the training.

Who can apply?

The training course is intended for youth workers from Erasmus+ Programme countries.

We are looking for participants who:

  • are actively working with young people in NGOs, youth centres, or educational institutions;
  • have at least 12 months of experience in youth work;
  • are trainers, facilitators, educators, or youth workers interested in media literacy education;
  • are aged 22 years or older (no upper age limit);
  • are motivated to organise follow-up activities after the project;
  • have a good command of English.

Youth workers supporting young people with fewer opportunities are especially encouraged to apply.

Methodology

The programme is based on the principles of non-formal education (NFE) and gamification, creating an interactive learning environment where participants actively learn from one another.

Throughout the training, participants will take part in workshops, simulations, group work, practical exercises, and collaborative learning activities covering topics such as:

  • Media literacy
  • Disinformation
  • Critical thinking
  • Fact-checking
  • Biases and stereotypes
  • Manipulation techniques in media
  • Social media algorithms
  • Game-based learning for youth work

By the end of the course, every participant will have developed practical educational tools and activities that can be adapted and implemented within their own organisations and local communities.
